Weighing in at under 18oz and a mere 26mm wide comes the new G43 by Glock. A single stack 9mm pistol that was quite possibly brought to the market due to the G42 .380's reaction of pitchforks, torches, and strongly worded tweets.

Along with this little fella came a dedicated URL along with their typical product page. Now, while I'm perfectly content with my enormous EDC options and my G27 for when I need to slim down - I can darn sure see the appeal on small as possible with a 9mm. And seeings how 9mm is my lovely wife's favorite - maybe something this small would appeal to her hesitant side of carrying. We should give it a test shot, @Sayrah!

Also note, they are quick to point out all the re-joyous tweets on the dedicated page :p

Finally, they bowed to customer pressure! The .380 was a good idea, especially for recoil-averse shooters (first-timers, kids), but they should have released it either after or in conjunction with the 9mm version. I'm definitely interested.

I'll bet the Glock sites are all a-twitter. :p

    Jeez, I don't get to be in a master race. I've got hammer-fired metal-frames, a striker-fired poly-frame, and now to really confuse things I've got a hammer-fired poly-frame.

Wonder if this will have any impact on the rest of the single stack 9mm market. Maybe some sweet deals coming for Shields and the like just before many people start looking at summer carry options.

Does the XD line from Springfield have a single-stack nine?

My son has the 45 and 9 XDs. Single stack... I have the 45 XDs... the 9 is a sweeter shooter.

I'd have to compare one to a G26 to see how much slimmer it really is.

I'm not so sure I'd sacrifice 4 rounds in the mag (plus 17 rd reloads) for a slightly slimmer gun.

I think the XDs boasts that their single stack is one inch even. It will disappear as a carry. And, as you say, it is pretty short on firepower.

It all depends on your assessment of the threats you could wind up facing. I've gone middle-of-the-road in that my EDC is a 10+1 in .45ACP. I cannot foresee a situation that I would wind up in where that plus a second mag would not suffice. I stress that point because your situation may put you in rougher areas than I go into, or you may be comfortable with less. Different strokes. . .

I like to err on the side of too much ammo.

The G26 allows you to carry 10+1 in the gun, 17 in each mag on your person, and 33 in each mag in the car.
