Mooseberry's thread about the Browning Hi-power, got me to thinking about John Browning and his accomplishments with firearms. Can you think of anyone that has had more influence in the design of functional modern firearms? Just some of his designs included: Winchester 1894 lever-action rifle Browning A5 shotgun M1911 pistol Browning High-Power pistol BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) M2 .50 cal machine gun The 1894 Winchester has had more than 7 MILLION copies made! The 1911 is up to 3 million or so, I think (maybe a lot more). The M2 is over one hundred years old and at 3 million and counting. The BAR was issued to every squad in the US Army in WWII. The Hi-Power is over a million copies. The A5, still one of the most desired semi-auto shotguns, was made continuously for almost 100 years (counting the licensed copies). Wouldn't it have been a pleasure to just sit with him and talk guns?
